Basic Buckram & Fabric Button Hat ( Private Lessons)
In this 3 day class you will learn how to block and prepare a buckram base and then block a fabric covering for it. You will learn how to finish all edges and attachment methods for keeping the hat in place, Buckram is one of the older methods of creating beautiful headwear and it is often difficult to find beginner-level classes in this medium. By the end of the class, you should have one completed headpiece similar to the ones in the pictures. You will learn techniques for embellishing your hat as well. This class fee will provide you with up to 3 nights lodging in the Sycamore Hollow Vacation Rentals that are located on the studio property. Each morning there will be a continental type breakfast. There will also be lunch with snacks and refreshments throughout the day. The evening meal will be on your own. There are cooking facilities available for you to use. This class fee includes all supplies for your hat. Classes begin at 9 am and end at 4 pm with an hour break for lunch. Total class time will be 12 hours of instruction and lots of hands-on experience for you. These classes are designed for beginner and intermediate level participants. If you have a friend or significant other that will be taking the class with you, there will be a 10% discount for each of you. If you are local or within reasonable driving distance & don't need as many nights lodging as listed on each class description, the price will be decreased by $50 for each night that you choose not to stay on site.
